Building Campaign
The future never looked so bright for the East End United Community Center.
Joseph A. Hardy III, the founder of 84 Lumber and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort,
provided seed money and the energy to help establish a new home for the East
End United Community Center. The result of his efforts, and those who worked
tirelessly to make the dream of a new facility a reality - are now on full
display. The new facility provides a state-of-the-art meeting place for members
of the community. New programs have been established that will ensure this vital
growth engine for residents of Uniontown and surrounding areas.
While Hardy's initial $700,000 contribution helped start and maintain the
project, many contributors from around the country provided support through a
variety of fundraising efforts.
Gifts of $3,000 or more have been accorded special recognition as "Friends
of the East End United Community Center" with plaques bearing their
names. (Hardy's generous support has resulted in the naming of the
Center's Joe Hardy Community Room in his honor)
The Facility
The East End United Community Center's new home was officially dedicated in August of 2008. It now contains: Four classrooms, two offices, a community room with a full kitchen and a spacious receiving foyer. In all the Center is housed in a 6,000-square-foot brick building on the corner of Coolspring and Butler Streets in Uniontown.
